How It Works
An apprenticeship is a structured training program combining practical work experience with classroom instruction. Here’s how it works:
- On-the-Job Training: After being hired by a company, you will spend a portion of your week working alongside current professionals who guide you through real-world projects.
- Classroom Learning: You’ll attend classes designed to teach you the knowledge and skills needed for your trade. These classes often take place in the evenings, allowing you to maintain full-time employment. We currently offer in-person classes in Pearl and Gulfport with the potential to join virtually, as approved by the organization.
- Certification and Advancement: Each year of the apprenticeship builds on the previous one. By the end of the program, you’ll have industry-recognized certifications and credentials, making you a highly qualified hire for employers.
Why Choose Construction?
With a construction career, you will find job stability, opportunity, and fulfillment. Here are a few other reasons why you should consider a construction apprenticeship:
- High Demand: More than half of Mississippi’s skilled workers are set to retire in the coming decade, creating a significant demand for new tradespeople.
- Competitive Pay: In Mississippi, many skilled trade professionals start earning good wages immediately and have the potential to increase their earnings significantly over time. The sky’s the limit on earnings in construction.
- Debt-Free Education: Unlike traditional college degrees, apprenticeships allow you to avoid student loans. You’ll earn a paycheck while gaining valuable skills leading to a solid career.
